Aloha! My name is Karlana and I live in New York, and am a happily married mom to Catherine and Andy, and wife to Richard. I am originally from Stockholm, Sweden and I miss home terribly. The only problem is that it costs too much to live there and my husband won’t fly over water. Guess I am stuck in New York for now!
I am currently a teacher for the local school . I currently hold a Bachelors of Arts degree in English, with a concentration in Secondary Education. In a year I hope to start working on my Masters degree, but I want to take time off from formal learning and apply more of the learning process into my teaching process. I want to develop a teaching style that is technology-rich and apply the real world in a positive way to my students.
In my spare time, I enjoy many different things. I love to read a different variety of books, write poetry and short stories, photography, digital scrapbooking, and spending time with family and friends. Photography tends to lead me to different places and meeting different people. I have met many interesting people online and in real life because of photography.
My ambitions in life, besides being one awesome Mom and Wife, are what make me who I am. I hope to become a motivating teacher who moves through the public school system and someday finding myself in a university/college professorship. I also would love to become a published author!! And of course, becoming a notable photographer would be awesome!! It all comes down to whatever life wants to hand me, whatever comes my way. I am in no hurry! My kids’ dreams and hopes are more important in the here and now.
Many often ask why do I blog. Well, it is simple: I am a mother who does a lot. I have many different interests, and at one point in time I was a SAHM (stay at home mom). It was my way of connecting with other SAHMs, and then WAHMs, and now I just stay connected with long-distance friends through blogging. I also believe in support in numbers. Regardless if you never meet your online friends, they can be just as valuable as those you hold near and dear to you in real life. I have found that many deal with the many different life experiences as I have, as well as it is awesome to know many others share the same interests and opinions as you do! The bonus is that those who are online who can debate among the same topics!
Sharing my life helps me realize I do not have to be SuperMom, and in turn it helps other moms realize the same thing. We often forget that we are human, and more often than not, we also forget of who we were before we were Mom, Wife, etc. I encourage everyone to start a blog and keep it up. It is a great stress reliever, and it is awesome to see what tags are connected to other people’s blogs!
I hope you enjoy my little part of the Internet!
