Lincoln, NE :: First night’s stop

We’ve been driving since about 230pm CST and finally stopped about an hour ago in Lincoln, Neb.

The kids did well today.  Minimal fighting, pretty pleasant actually.  This will probably mean that tomorrow will be the total opposite, or at least a little less as nice as it was today.  We didn’t encounter much traffic, but I did find myself stuck at 65mph for at least three stretches of the I-29, which as at least 15-20 miles each.  Otherwise, a breeze!

I took the first stretch of driving, which annoyed the crap out of me.  Scott decided that he needed to take a nap since he went to the auction with his family earlier today.  In which, I want to point out that I had to call him from and remind him I wanted to be on the road a decent hour.  If I didn’t call, we would have pulled in MUCH later than we did tonight.  So he was crabby and acted like he needed his beauty sleep.  I’d like to add that out of the four hour drive, he slept a total of maybe 90 minutes, and this was in like 10-15 minutes here and there in between reading the newspaper and playing the Game Boy.

Needed a nap, my foot!

I took the drive to South Sioux City, Iowa, where we stopped at the McDonald’s off of the I-29.  We have been stopping there every year since 2003 for our first stop on the way home, and it is pretty convenient.  No Play Place, but the kids will eat.  Works out great for us since we like to get back on the road as soon as possible to keep pushing along.

We really miss home, despite the heat will be blasted with when we arrive in Las Vegas, Nev.  Hopefully the kids won’t be too broody and I can take them to the movies on Wednesday!  Which reminds me, I need to check and see what movies are showing.  So, on that night, I am signing off the for the night.  TTYL!
