September 26, 2009 :: Free Museum Day

Museums, I believe, are becoming a lost tradition among families.  I know I am guilty of not utilizing the ones we have in Las Vegas more often myself.  However, for those who would like to visit a museum in the near future, you have that very opportunity on September 26, 2009, across the United States!

All you have to do is visit the Smithsonian site and find the closet venue to you.  You can do that by visiting the venue list here.

For us Las Vegans, the Las Vegas Natural History Museum will be hosting this year’s open museum event.  I am pretty excited since I have been since I was a kid myself, and I can never really afford to take the kids with me.  I know Michael would really love the dinosaur exhibit, and Leilani just loves that museum altogether since she went last year for her class’ field trip.

I am glad I came across this particular event!  With things being extremely tight lately, I haven’t been able to do much with the kids that is more on the educational side.  I try to keep things free and cheap when it comes to taking the kids outside the house for a change of scenery and entertainment.  However, even free events have come across pretty slim for Michael’s age lately. 

So, please visit your museums and take advantage of a wonderful event!
