‘Tis the season to be sick…

I have been noticing my students missing a couple of days here and there.  Normally when this happens, it is the students trying to cope with going back to school from summer by ditching school a day here and there.

Not this year!

This year, the students are actually, and truly, getting sick.

Guess who else is sick?

Yup, me.

I started feeling it Friday afternoon.  I thought that perhaps it was just an allergy migraine sort of deal.  Saturday I started to feel a little worse.  Sunday I felt awful, so slept most of the day.  This helped as I felt healthy enough to go to work yesterday and teach.

Big mistake!

I made it through the day, but with each passing period, I could feel myself slowing down.  I called Scott at the end of the day and told him he had to pick up the kids while I went home and rested.

I went to bed early and woke up this morning.  I felt fine until I started moving around.  I have been feeling achy and stuffy, I am coughing up horrible stuff, constantly blowing my nose, and just overall feel like I can sleep all day.  I dropped the kids off and went into work and left modified plans.

I have been home since about 730am and have take about three naps so far.  I anticipate more short naps throughout the day.

However, I still have grading to do and I am waiting for an email from my grade department team so I can get a jump on lesson plans.  Everyone is telling me to get rest.  I am getting rest.  Just when I can’t sleep, I am working.

I will say that at least I am not chasing Michael around.  I took him to daycare.  I didn’t think it was fair to keep him home when he could be at school playing.  Besides, if I have been feeling sick since Friday, I would think he would have been down with something by now.

[knock on wood…]

Alright, off for another nap.  TTYL!
