Today was not like any other….

It was gorgeous for a February day, something we haven’t seen around here in a couple of years.
Leilani behaved well, compared to recent days. Well, I shouldn’t say that. She has been acting better lately in the past few weeks, with a couple of trying moments here and there.
Leilani and I spent most of the day together. We went to a friend’s baby shower to drop some clothes off for her oldest son. I didn’t want to crash, so went down the street to see another friend and her children for a bit. Then we went out to lunch at fabulous KFC!
After that, I took Leilani to the safe shelter for women and children. Leilani saw those kids out there, and she asked why they were there. We had a long heart to heart about why that shelter was there and how very lucky she was to have a safe home with a mother and father.
You’d think that would have made her humble for the rest of the day, but there were a couple of moments where she forgot. I just simply reminded her of what we saw earlier in the day, and she instantly remembers.
Those trying moments were when her and Michael would fight over something small. We also had a talk about that – where she needs to learn to pick her battles, that she should stop fighting over the smallest things with him, especially if it tends to be with his stuff.
We rounded out the night by going out to the mall and Best Buy. Michael bought the Justice League Unlimited Season #1 DVD set, Leilani picked up the new Mario vs. Sonic DS game, and I picked up the TouchMasters DS game. We also found a great deal on some jeans at Children’s Place, six pairs for $48!! We bought two pairs each for Michael and Leilani, and one pair for Mackenzie’s and Aiden’s birthdays.
We have been buying here and there for the nieces and nephews for their birthdays. There are ten of them total, including our two. We had Mackenzie and Aiden done except for jeans on their clothes part of the gift, and Mackenzie’s toy gift. We started on Christian and Jordan, but haven’t gotten too far. We then have the older three, but we are just sending gift cards to them. And Kylie we bought a few clothes items, but no toys.
I say we are pretty much ahead of the game! I told Scott the jeans we bought today will be part of the clothes gifts for Christmas for our kids. Hence, we have started shopping for Christmas already.
Anyone else starting to shop for Christmas already? It seems like after the flop we had this last Christmas of finding things, we have just learned to start now versus later.
Alright, it has been a long day, and I have a couple of blog memes to catch up on. So, catch y’all on the flip side!
